How to decorate the coffee table
December 06, 2017
Have you seen the situation of not
knowing how to decorate or renovate the decoration of your centerpiece?
Do not worry anymore; here we give
you some ideas that will surely be useful to perform such a creative activity,
in which you can express your particular taste.
First, we inform you that a coffee
table has a purpose since its creation and this is ancillary to the activities that
take place there, and what can these be? They range from placing reading books,
placing glasses where we offer drinks, snack dishes or snacks that we offer our
guests among others that depend on the activities with which you tend to
socialize and develop yourself in your living room.
Second, you must take into account
the style that prevails in that area and in general in the decoration of the
rest of your house. If your house is rustic Mexican style, it would not fit
properly that you placed a Greek sculpture on your table, or vice versa,
placing a “charra” sculpture in your
home with French Provencal style. However, there are a number of elements that
are capable of not altering the style or that can be adapted to several without
clashing and here we expose some ideas.
If your coffee table is small you
should not place more than 3 items of approximately the same volume or one
main, so that in this way you have space for some books, glasses, dumps that
you will occasionally need to place there.
Another important point to consider
is to avoid that your coffee table becomes a collection showcase or showcase of
your memories. You will have seen those coffee tables that contain a diversity
of figurines and if you want to place something, you have to mobilize them and
unpack them, because that is an inconvenience and that's when the coffee table
has lost its functionality and you should avoid it. If you want to show some
collection of your miniatures, then you must acquire an illuminated showcase,
designed for that purpose exclusively.
On the elements that you can use on
your coffee table there are different:
FOLDERS: Currently they simulate
table runners in brocades, which are exposed in capricious corrugated form
without being fully extended on the surface of the table.
CANDLES: whose color and size
should be considered based on the size of your table and number of elements
that you will expose on it. It is necessary to provide them with a base that
harmonizes with the rest of the table and decoration elements. As an example,
if you already have a bronze sculpture, as an element of your composition on
your table, the base of your candles should not be of another metal (at least
in color) avoiding presenting a sample of metals.
BOOKS: These are an excellent
option, such as a small stack of books (no more than 3) about art or topics of
general interest that any guest finds attractive while waiting. This option
goes hand in hand if your social-professional links are related to knowledge,
philosophy or if at home there are minds that read. Do not incur in placing a
book that you have not read.
SCULPTURES: These are a noble
element and we mean that a sculpture selected with good taste is an excellent
element of decoration. If this option appeals to you, choose a regular size
that stands out but not greater than a quarter of the length of your table.
Take care of the style and finish your sculpture to be beautiful and go
according to the rest of your decoration.
FLOWERS: There is nothing more
beautiful in sight than a vase with natural flowers. This adds life and
freshness to your environment. If your table is large you can opt for a large
floral arrangement of natural preference and if it is small, there are
currently and very effective, transparent glass bases to place no more than 2
or 3 large colors such as chrysanthemums, gannets, tulips in the middle of
water. There are artificial versions that resemble natural ones, so much so
that it is difficult to identify that they are not natural. This is a cheaper option.
ACCESSORIES: We refer to cup
holders, ashtrays in which you must take care of the style and material so that
it is integrated with the rest of the elements of the table. There are some
that meet design and beauty characteristics that may well be another ornamental
element of your table.
Now,
after these ideas, you are ready to select the elements that best suit your taste and style of decoration, without forgetting to always take into
account the functions that your coffee table will have.
