When choosing housing it is important to look at all the details and how to take advantage of each space. Hallways are essential elements in a house, and taking advantage of them can make a difference.
The decoration of these can be the way to make the most of a space that we often forget. If you are thinking about buying or renting a home, you should look at the hallway (s), its location and its possibilities.
A hallway can have many functions: from storage to art showcase or bookstore. Get the most out of these tricks:
The keys to the decoration of corridors
There are some general keys that will make your hall an essential part of your home. Walls and lighting can change the perception of space, and using it as a storage space can be very useful.
Colors
The colors of the corridor should be in line with the rest of the house. In general, as in the decoration of the walls of rooms, light tones are recommended to give a feeling of peace and spaciousness, but bringing a different one will make it a very special space. You can also play with colors to create a different atmosphere in each room and in the hallway.
Prints
With the prints it happens a little the same as with the colors. Normally they go to play with the rest of the house, but if you take out your creative side you can combine them.
At the moment the vertical stripes are fashionable: they will make your hallway look taller and give a feeling of spaciousness. If you decide on these, avoid very dark, flashy colors with a lot of contrast between them, or you will soon get tired and may feel overwhelmed. Choose colors that match well, or a main color and the same in a lighter shade. That way you'll be sure.
Illumination
Lighting is essential in a corridor. It is true that sometimes there are corridors that lead directly to windows, but it is not usual. You can put lights on the ceiling simply or combine them with some at ground level, a very modern idea that will give a sensation of length.
Storage
If you think the corridor is lost meters you're wrong. Using it for storage will be one of the best options, especially if in the rest of the house you think there is a lack of space, or you would like to have more free lockers. If your hall is high, use tall furniture to make the most of the space.
Decoration details
In the decoration of corridors, as in most things, many times the real key lies in the details. Customize your hallway and make it stop being just a passage area where nobody is fixed.
Picture
The paintings are one of the most recurrent elements in decoration, and in a corridor it should not be different. Combine them, play with colors and textures and make your hall a special place to stop to admire art or curiosities that you include on the walls.
Photographs
If you prefer to decorate with photographs that with pictures you can use them too. They will look great in your hallway, and each time you go back you will relive those memories.
Plinth
The socle is the best option for those who have children. If you suffer in case the walls stain on you, adding a baseboard will stop you from worrying. Also, if you combine it well it may look great.
Shelves
In the decoration of corridors it is very important to add the aesthetic and the useful, and the shelves do it. They can be the best decoration and, at the same time, be useful for storing things, such as books. How would you like to make your hall a bookstore? It would be a very well used space where it is very pleasant to spend, you would save space in other rooms and it is also very beautiful.
Mirrors
The mirrors give amplitude and make the space look different. You can play with them to create a feeling of more extension, or place them in the hallway, for example on top of a piece of furniture with plants. If you love them, another option is for one of the walls to be a mirror, but that can eventually make you tired, as well as needing a lot of maintenance.
Carpet
Another decoration option is to put a large elongated carpet in the hallway. You can take to buy one that you love and add it to this space of the house. It is an original and different idea that will give a very personal touch to your home.
